Mikaela Charalambous

Mikaela is from the island of Cyprus and was born and raised in Queens. She graduated from CUNY Queens College with a BS in Environmental Science and will be pursuing her Master’s at CUNY Brooklyn College in the fall of 2023 with a focus on urban soil remediation. She is passionate about soil conservation and local food/agriculture, and is excited to build toward the local food movement through hydroponic growing at NY Sun Works.

On the weekends, Mikaela works for GrowNYC’s Zero Waste Program collecting food scraps for compost. When she’s not working, you can find her reading, cooking, gardening, weightlifting, and playing Scrabble.
