CURRICULUM SPECIALIST
Position Summary
NY Sun Works is seeking an enthusiastic 6-12 Curriculum Specialist to lead the integration of our sustainability and science curriculum across partner schools. In this role, you will champion educational innovation, train and support educators, and align dynamic learning resources with national and state standards to make a profound impact on science education.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development & Alignment: Design high-quality science resources and align existing educational materials with state and national curriculum standards.
- Teacher Training & Support: Deliver comprehensive professional development, advise on curriculum implementation timelines, and provide timely, ongoing email/virtual support to partner teachers.
- Relationship Management: Build positive, collaborative relationships with partner teachers and school staff through regular phone, email, and text communication.
- On-Site & Virtual Engagement: Travel to NYC partner schools for in-person meetings, workshops, and support sessions (with virtual options as needed).
- Data & Project Management: Utilize organizational tools (Accelo, Google Sheets, etc.) to maintain meticulous records, track school data, and meet project deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Education, Science, Curriculum Development, or a related field
- 3+ years of formal classroom teaching experience in 6-12 science or a related subject
Skills and Expertise:
- Curriculum & Professional Development: Proven track record of designing curriculum and delivering engaging training workshops or coaching individual educators.
- Passion for the Mission: A strong dedication to K-12 science, sustainability, and environmental education.
- Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills to effectively mentor teachers.
- Organization & Autonomy: Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple school partnerships independently and as a team player.
Job Location: New York City
The heart of this role is in-person, allowing you to be at the center of our dynamic work environment. You’ll typically enjoy standard working hours from 9am to 5pm. However, we understand that life sometimes calls for flexibility. With that in mind, we are open to occasional remote work options, especially when travel or special circumstances arise.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $60,000-$70,000 USD.
