Liz has spent over 20 years in education in NYC schools. After working in the science research industry, she became interested in helping students learn science and started as a middle school science teacher in Brooklyn. She went on to multiple roles in NYC schools in both teacher leadership and instructional coaching. Liz earned her doctorate in Urban Education from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, and her research focuses on improving equity in STEM fields. Besides working at NY Sun Works, she also teaches as an adjunct Assistant Professor at Hunter College in the Department of Educational Foundations.
As Director of Education, Liz works to develop our curricular content and pedagogical approach, and support an extremely talented team of educators so that we are able to provide high-quality materials and programming for teachers. She also assists in developing assessments of the impact of our programs. She spends her free time with her family north of NYC, going to soccer games, running, and hanging out with her dogs and cat.
