Dr. Caplow is an engineer and social entrepreneur with a background in renewable energy, sustainable food production, and water contaminant dynamics. A pioneer in the field of building-integrated agriculture, he designed and developed the Science Barge urban farm prototype and patented the Vertically Integrated Greenhouse. He is the founder the NY Sun Works, the urban farming enterprise BrightFarms, and the documentary film group Fish Navy Films. Dr. Caplow serves on the board of NY Sun Works as well as the Miami Science Museum. His interests include using digital networks to efficiently spur innovation and achieve progress. Dr. Caplow holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Columbia University, a M.S. in mechanical engineering from Princeton University, and a B.A. from Harvard University.
